discapades: ministry

i haven't blogged in a while but the events that have taken place lately make me want to say a little something.

yesterday, lost my job at the bank. normally... anyone would be geeking out & spazzing over "what's to come?" but oddly i'm extremely chill. just resting and relying on the power of God to move me to next season of my life. [i've been wanting a career shift to get into media, so that's what i have my sights on]

Ephesians 3:20-21
Now
 to Him
 who is able
 to do exceedingly abundantly
above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus
to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

a lot of leads for jobs have come up and i'm not struggling financially. so, i've been taking it easy and enjoying my new house (haven't even been in it for a full month). i'm on a house on 2 acres in the middle of arlington and it's great. big yard. hammock. fire pit. trees every where. just a NICE place if you're out-doorsy. [praise God]

in the meantime... in between time.. i've been hitting up JU... chillin at the pool. and just keeping my cool. focusing more on working out. swimming laps. playing disc golf.

I invited my buddy Justin Williams to play disc golf with me about a month ago and he's just TAKEN OFF!
his skill increases more and more and i'm extremely proud of him. today he played +5 on 23 HOLES!!! that's NUTS! my buddy Matt Jorns came and played for the first time and he did extremely well for a first timer. generally when you're out there playing disc golf and you're by yourself... naturally, you'll tag up with some people and play along.

we met a dude named Ryan. he's extremely good and we all became friends. around hole 5 he tells us that he was engaged and his situation didn't pan out like it thought he would. ALL of his stuff was in his car and i hinted my buddies that we should pray for him after we're done playing.

turns out homeboy is a believer and has played guitar on about 5 different worship bands... he asked for some water towards the end.. i have bottled water in my trunk and gave him 4 bottles. he downed a bottle in about 10 seconds... he was thirsty FOR REAL! [Matthew 10:42]

justin, matt, & i layed hands on him... i prayed for his welfare.. gave him a cd from the Priscilla Shirer/Fam Vs. Wild series [ http://vimeo.com/23773887 ] .... enlightened him of the Celebration Church app (free on droid) and just tried to encourage him the best way i could. i asked him if he needed anything. he had a place to stay.. i told him i was cooking spaghetti... (which was DANK!) and offered him a plate. he went on his way but promised we'd meet again.

we parted ways... i went home and was still thinking about him and his situation.. i texted him and asked if he needed a shower or a meal. he thanked me for "being God's hands and feet" and said that he could "feel his love being manisfest" through me.

... it's just crazy when situations like that arise..it truly is better to give than receive.

I cooked spaghetti (with ground turkey) and shared with my roommates. they thoroughly enjoyed it... my italian roommate AJ was skiddish about the turkey meat.. but with all the seasonings.. red onions.. garlics.. red peppers... and whole wheat pasta.... he was won over.

the heat won... all is well..

.. and God is still in control.

peace out.
